Whether you want to learn more about fertility or are looking for some tools and advice to help you during the conception process, the sheer amount of information and options can be overwhelming. Here are some books, apps, and tools that Team Mosie recommends.
by Toni Weschler
After reading this book, you may be astounded at how little you actually knew about your own body. It also has great information on charting your cycle and how to know when you’re ovulating. I recommend this as the first book to anyone starting down the “must-get-pregnant” path. It also will empower you on how to use the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM).

This book is actually a great resource for lesbians and heteros alike. It has some very descriptive chapters on how to self inseminate, and the information on monitoring your cycle and timing insemination is invaluable. This is an especially good read for anyone considering using frozen sperm from a sperm bank.
by Sami S. David and Jill Blakeway
Often compared to The Infertility Cure, this book offers some straightforward advice about how to restructure your lifestyle to optimize your fertility. It can be an excellent resource both for those just starting out and those who need a new outlook after many months on their conception journey.

If you have heard the words “unexplained infertility” come out of a doctor’s mouth, then this book might help re-instill some of the hope and confidence you had prior to your diagnosis. There are some overlaps with the Making Babies book, but this is more geared towards those who have diagnosed fertility issues than those who don’t. It does offer a different point of view on conception that I think is helpful for anyone to read, and takes into account the whole body (eastern medicine viewpoint) versus only the body parts involved with conception (western medicine viewpoint). Be aware that it can be a bit dense after the first few chapters but provides great insight into Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern methods.
There are many ovulation predictor kits to choose from, but this is one preferred option for the Mosie team. Here's why: it clearly tells you when you’re starting to surge and when you’re surging. That first sign of a hormone surge is the most important thing you need to know when trying to conceive. Each Mosie Ovulation kit gives you 7 tests, so you have a full week to pee on tests!
You totally got this. And we got you.
This is the ONLY fertility and sperm-friendly lubricant we recommend if you feel like you need one. If you feel like you are having fluid issues, I would recommend making a few lifestyle choices first to help create a welcoming environment for sperm. If you know it’s the optimal time to conceive and you don’t feel you have enough fluid, a little foreplay always helps! If you feel these things aren’t working, then I would recommend Biogenesis™ Fertility Lubricant.
This is a popular app, and it’s a great free option for estimating your fertile days and tracking your ovulation if you’re on a regular 28-day cycle. It also allows you to track your weight, mood, symptoms like breast tenderness, and treatments from prenatal vitamins to IVF.
This description covers the VIP version, but there is also a free app to help monitor the basics of your cycle. Many people who are into BBT charting really love this app and the community it provides. You can share your charts and give feedback on others. Even after you‘ve conceived, you can stay connected with other mamas-to-be due around your due date. It has an easy to use interface and offers many up front tracking options from your cervix to detailed options for fertility treatments. It also offers great “analysis” tools to help figure out optimal baby-making days and has a handy countdown during your two-week wait.
This app seems to be by far the most modern in its interface and approach. It’s quite comprehensive, and can even link to your FitBit and some other devices. It is easy to use, and has a community where you can share your charts, seek advice, and build relationships with others on the same journey. This is quickly becoming a new favorite app of the Mosie team
